NOTES: Rustic colonial style pottery depicting three sites from Melbourne: Flinders Street Station, the trams, and Captain Cooks cottage (which Captain Cook never lived in, well, not in Australia – it was brought to Melbourne in 1934 from England.

PLACE REPRESENTED: Bathurst (specifically the Soldier’s Memorial on King’s Parade), Victoria , Australia

NOTES: The Soldiers’ Memorial (built 1909) at King’s Parade, Bathurst to remember those who fought in the Boer War. It’s still there as most Australian memorials are … one of the benefits of not being over run by other countries every few decades.

NOTES: As far as I know the Melbournians are not famous for clogs and the Dutch did not settle Melbourne (even Dutch explorer Abel Tasman didn’t make it to Melbourne) so, I assume, the ceramic clog factory was looking to move a few ceramic clogs and contacted the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Australia’s second most populous city, and said, “We can do you a deal on some souvenir clogs” …
