Coolangatta - Marine Parade - Display Plate (1)PLACE REPRESENTED: Coolangatta, Gold Coast, Queensland , Australia

ITEM: Small Dish

NOTES: A small dish depicting Marine Parade at Coolangatta, on the Gold Coast. It certainly doesn’t look like this any more, though it did up until the 1970s. A pity. The size of the row of pine trees along the left indicate this is from the 1930s.

BRUNSWICK HEADS, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA – Side Plate

Brunswick Heads - Display Plate (1)

PLACE REPRESENTED: Brunswick Heads, New South Wales , Australia

NOTES: Brunswick Heads is a town on the north coast of New South Wales which has remained (almost) unchanged for many years. It is very much a traditional, relaxed, and unpretentious coastal town. The rock wall depicted and swimming area is still there. Developers (with some dodgy government backing) are eyeing off the shore but locals are fighting back (and rightly so). ISLE OF WIGHT, ENGLAND – Ornament

Isle of Wight - ceramic ornament (2)

PLACE REPRESENTED: Isle of Wight , England

ITEM: A very small ceramic urn

NOTES: I’m not sure why the use of the urn form. The Romans hung out there for quiet some time so I assume the urn shape could be a reference to that. Also, this is not the normal coat of arms for the Isle of Wight. The Isle of Wight recieved its more common coat of arms in 1938 so this is pre that. I’m not sure of the significance of the boat but the Isle of Wight is, errr, an island located in the English Channel (the largest in England), so, boats are a necessity.
