Rijeka, on the Croatian coast means &#8220;river&#8221;. Under the Italians the town was called &#8220;Fiume&#8221;, Italian for, err, river. The river isn&#8217;t very wide. Maybe they don&#8217;t have a word for &#8220;creek&#8221; in Croatian or Italian.
