NOTES: Deutsches Eck (“German Corner” is the name of a headland) on Koblenz where the Moselle river joins the Rhine river. The statue is of Emperor William I (one of many in Germany erected in his honour). The statue was destroyed by the Allies in 1945 and was eventually replaced in 1993.
