NOTES: A novelty, oversize pencil with a bell attached depicting all the sites of Amsterdam, well almost everything … there is no Red Light district. Maybe that’s what the bell is for. That’s cryptic. Actually, that makes no sense. In any event the bell becomes annoying when writing, though the a novelty oversized pencil is not commonly used.

NOTES: A small wall ornament with a hand painted farmhouse, some pyrography lettering, and, naturally enough, a windmill (windmills or clogs, clogs or windmills). This is especially as the sails on the windmill turn!

NOTES: A small key ring with a lot of sites crammed into its frame: Dam Square with Royal Palace,  Oude Kerk, the National Monument, the Magere Brug (bridge) and probably a few other things.

NOTES: A cap depicting the shield of Amsterdam … no drugs, no prostitues, no freewheelin times.  Of course you could wear the cap, pulled down, over you face when indulging in any of those activities.

NOTES: Six pointed high hat (top hat?) in the Dutch colours and with bells attahed to the peaks. I strongly suspect this isn’t a traditional hat but knowing some of the Dutch people I know nothing would surprise me. Perhaps, more likely, it’s a Dutch hat to be worn when following the nation football (soccer) team? If that is the case you don’t want to be sitting behind the wearer at the game!

ITEM: A stein.

NOTES: A mug from Holland. I’ve known a couple of mugs from Holland. Or is it a stein? No doubt one of the Dutch will tell me what a beer stein is called in Dutch. But what do the Dutch know about beer? Just kidding.

This stein is pure “souvenir” depicting traditional scenes of Holland past . Note the Amsterdam Red Light District and “Coffee” Houses are not depicted.

NOTES: Google translates “De Heerlijkheid” as “the glory”. Bergen is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in North Holland. Depicted is a local windmill and the famous Ruïne church in the centre of the village of Bergen. Artists looking for a pastoral setting are drawn to the natural beauty of Bergen. It’s a pity the tilers weren’t as well because this wall tile is “Made in Turkey” as proudly displayed on the back.

ITEM: Ornamental Minature

NOTES: A beautiful detailed boat, err clog.  The Dutch are famous for their clogs and their seafaring trade (if that’s what you call it) so why not combine the two? The result: the clog boat! Paint some windmills on the clog, err hull, throw in some flags and you have a perfect Dutch tourist trinket.
