NOTES: The copper tin industry in Chile is large and appears in all sorts of souvenirs. Here various Chilean activities and institutions are pressed into copper tin and placed onto wood (another big industry). This is quite effective and local.

NOTES: A vivid little painted print in relief of Valparaiso, Chile looking down to the harbour from the hillside districts. Valparaíso a once major port, and a home for European immigrants, was known as “Little San Francisco” and “The Jewel of the Pacific”. NOTES: Easter Island, or Rapa Nui as it is known to its Polynesian locals is a Chilean Island about 3500 km west of Chile. It is most famous for its nearly 1000 large stone monumental statues, called Moai locally or "Easter Island Heads".

NOTES: Simple and vivid. A painted tin relief glued to a piece of masonite. The images depicted, the map of Chile, the Cathedral of Chillan (with monumental cross in memory of the victims of the earthquake in January 1939 that devastated the city of Chillan), the Parinacota volcano, the Chilean Huaso or baqueano (cowboy), the native Chilean in traditional dress are vivid. And quite appropriately, so are the materials, copper tin and wood … two of the largest industries in chile: copper mining and forestry.

NOTES: A nice hand crafted (partially) wall ornament from Chile, in copper, naturally enough. Copper mining was (is) one of the biggest industries in Chile.

“Recuerdo de Chile” means “A Remembrance of Chile”.
