NOTES: Land’s End certainly lives up to its name being on the furtherest southern western point of the English mainland. This beautifully detailed cup with about everything you can do and see. On the other side the famous “First and Last House In England” is depicted … which, apparently, is a little (expensive) shop by itself on the edge of a very windy, but visually stunning, cliff.

ITEM: Trivet

NOTES: Nice trivet that can also be a display. A buttercross, also known as butter cross, is a type of market cross associated with English market towns and dating from medieval times. The one depicted is in Market Drayton, in the country of Shropshire, England. Northern Shropshire is famous for its cheeses and dairy products, hence the market (or Buttercross) in the line drawing, which was built in 1824. The town once had a court of ‘pied poudre’; here litigants could settle their differences immediately they reached market – in other words, while they still had dusty (or powdered) feet.

NOTES: A small nic nac plate depicting the iconic map to the London Underground. Though it may be a little hard to carry, you wont get lost using this map, well, as long as you down leave the Tube station.

Isle of Wight - ceramic ornament (2)

PLACE REPRESENTED: Isle of Wight , England

ITEM: A very small ceramic urn

NOTES: I’m not sure why the use of the urn form. The Romans hung out there for quiet some time so I assume the urn shape could be a reference to that. Also, this is not the normal coat of arms for the Isle of Wight. The Isle of Wight recieved its more common coat of arms in 1938 so this is pre that. I’m not sure of the significance of the boat but the Isle of Wight is, errr, an island located in the English Channel (the largest in England), so, boats are a necessity.

NOTES: Wells is a cathedral city and civil parish in Somerset, England in the south west of England.The name Wells comes from three wells (as depicted on the coat of arms) dedicated to Saint Andrew, one in the market place and two within the grounds of the Bishop’s Palace and cathedral

Salisbury - Minature four flute vase (1)PLACE REPRESENTED: Salisbury , England

ITEM: Four finger bud vase

NOTES: Nifty and slightly  surreal bud vase depicting the coat of arms for Salisbury in the south of England.

Salisbury was called “New Sarum” at one stage, hence the Latin on the coat of arms.

A bud vase is a small vase which is designed to held several cut flowers, especially young flowers and buds.

NOTES: Curious – a spinning wheel to pick lotto numbers, a curious elf, and a small picture of a pier on the Isle of Wight. Maybe only the locals could explain this to me.

ITEM: Small Display Plate / Nic Nac bowl.

NOTES: Nic Nac plate celebrating the Post Office Tower in London.

Impressive?

To give you an idea of it’s impressive size the bowl has a to scale picture of Nelson’s Column inset. This, of course, is only uselful if you know how tall Nelson’s Column is.
