NOTES: A mug from Holland. I’ve known a couple of mugs from Holland. Or is it a stein? No doubt one of the Dutch will tell me what a beer stein is called in Dutch. But what do the Dutch know about beer? Just kidding.
This stein is pure “souvenir” depicting traditional scenes of Holland past . Note the Amsterdam Red Light District and “Coffee” Houses are not depicted.

NOTES: Noosa Heads on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland is a town popular with beach types, especially discerning ones. This pair of vividly coloured mugs with the first “o” in Noosa depicting the sun sums up sunny, happy Noosa days. Sunshine is so central that there is even a sun on the inside of the cup.

NOTES: Hohenzollern Castle is a castle approximately 50 kilometers south of Stuttgart, Germany. It dates back to the 15th and 18th centuries in parts and is considered the ancestral seat of the Hohenzollern family, who eventually became German Emperors. The castle isn’t normally inhabited and is a sort of educational, historical Disneyland …err, without rides or giant stuffed talking animals.

NOTES: A beautiful handcrafted mug from the United States. These small pottery and craft places do exist but they find it hard to compete with the cheap trinkets from China. Westerwald Pottery in Pennsylvania make salt glazed pottery in the rendition of the Westerwald region of Germany. They have been around since 1975.
